Ep. 17: Zander Martin on the Developing Leaders in the Wildnerness

Meet Zander Martin, a facilitator, coach and educator who uses the outdoors as a context for leadership development. Zander is a lifelong explorer who was named Outside Magazine's "Adventurer of the Year" in 2011. He’s been involved with NOLS–the National Outdoor Leadership School-since 2008, and is currently a Senior Faculty.  He’s the Principal consultant at Treeline Development, his own consulting firm.  He serves as the Americas Hub Lead for TrailHaven, a retreat-focused executive development firm.  He has worked with NASA mission-crews, fighter squadrons, top-five MBA students, and leaders across the FAANG group, as well as top 5 companies in the automotive, brokerage, financial services, insurance, and healthcare industries. In this conversation, we explore the process of guiding leaders through transformational experiences in nature, and why reconnecting with the natural world is so important today. Ep. #16: Max Solo--The Semester That Changed My Life

In this first ever solo episode, host Max Klau shares a moment from his journey that had a major impact on the development of the work of Courageous Wholeness. Max tells the story of the semester in graduate school in which he first encountered the moral development work of Carol Gilligan and the adaptive leadership work of Ron Heifetz...and how those two courses led to a major awakening that occurred while making mac-n-cheese one night. Inspired by one of his favorite podcast hosts, Elise Loehnen, Max goes deep into the mix of developmental psychology theory and personal experiences that led him down the path to this work. Episode Ep. 14: Thomas Legrand on the Politics of Being Cover

Ep. 14: Thomas Legrand on the Politics of Being

Thomas Legrand is an expert on sustainability, a spiritual seeker, and the author of a powerful book called The Politics of Being: Wisdom and Science for a New Developmental Paradigm [https://www.amazon.com/Politics-Being-Science-Development-Paradigm/dp/295775830X].  Thomas has a PhD in economics and  he currently serves as the Lead Technical Advisor for the Conscious Food Systems Alliance convened by the United Nations Development Program. He spends his days working to make our global food systems more sustainable by shifting the consciousness of the stakeholders in that system. Thomas believes that the current crises we see unfolding all around us are manifestations of greed, hatred, fear, ignorance, selfishness and other dark emotions. To move beyond these crises, we must create systems and cultures that are focused on cultivating more evolved ways of being. His book, The Politics of Being, is a remarkably substantive and ambitious exploration of what it could look like bring this shift to every facet of our civic lives. Thomas is both a visionary soul and an experienced practitioner working on the front lines of a complex public challenge. I'm excited to lift up his wisdom on this podcast!
