S2 Ep26: New ICD-10 Code Offers Validation for Patients With Topical Steroid Withdrawal

In the most recent episode of the Derm Dispatch video series [https://www.dermatologytimes.com/podcasts/derm-dispatch], host Renata Block, DMSCc, MMS, PA-C, a Chicago-based physician assistant, interviewed Kelly Barta, the president and executive director of the International Topical Steroid Awareness Network (ITSAN) [https://www.itsan.org/], to discuss the new ICD-10 code for topical steroid withdrawal and ITSAN's patient registry.  The ICD-10 code for TSW went through 3 formal reviews with the CDC and a split board vote before receiving final approval, with support from the American Academy of Dermatology. Barta said the designation gives patients a formal diagnosis within the health system for the first time and allows researchers to begin capturing incidence and prevalence data.

Episode S2 Ep24: Debunking Allergy Myths and the Future of Atopic Dermatitis Treatment Cover

S2 Ep24: Debunking Allergy Myths and the Future of Atopic Dermatitis Treatment

In this episode of The Cutaneous Connection, Dermatology Times revisits a recent video episode of the Derm Dispatch show where host Renata Block, DMSc, MMS, PA-C, sits down with Zachary Rubin, MD — allergist, pediatrician, and New York Times bestselling author of All About Allergies — to explore the intersection of dermatology and allergy. Together, they tackle one of the most persistent myths in practice: that food elimination can treat atopic dermatitis. Dr. Rubin breaks down the difference between IgE-mediated allergic reactions and the complex inflammatory nature of eczema, explains the atopic march, and discusses how understanding the gut-lung-skin axis can empower patients to take charge of their care. The conversation also covers the latest treatment advances — from JAK inhibitors to novel biologics — and touches on indolent systemic mastocytosis and the truth about so-called hypoallergenic dogs. A must-listen for any clinician treating allergic and inflammatory skin disease. For more content, visit https://www.dermatologytimes.com/ [https://www.dermatologytimes.com/]

S2 Ep23: Diving Into the Safety and Efficacy of Icotrokinra, the New Oral IL-23 Peptide in Psoriasis

Join Dermatology Times for a conversation with Liza O'Dowd, MD, vice president of immunodermatology and respiratory disease areas at Johnson & Johnson, recorded at the 2026 AAD Annual Meeting. Dr. O'Dowd discusses one-year efficacy and safety data for icotrokinra (Icotyde), the newly approved once-daily oral peptide IL-23 receptor antagonist for moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in adults and adolescents 12 and older. At 52 weeks, approximately 50% of adult patients achieved total skin clearance, rising to 60% in adolescents enrolled in the LEAD study. Adverse event rates through one year remained within 1.1% of placebo, with no mandatory tuberculosis pre-screening required. Dr. O'Dowd also addresses icotrokinra's anticipated role as a first-line systemic therapy and offers practical reassurance for clinicians considering this novel agent for their patients.
