Episode Cultivating self-compassion in the age of self-esteem Cover

Cultivating self-compassion in the age of self-esteem

The main source of anxiety in modern life is the feeling that nothing we do, no matter how hard we try, no matter how successful we are, no matter how good a parent, employee, or partner we are, is ever enough. We constantly feel inferior to others because they are either wealthier, leaner, smarter, or more potent. Any failure, regardless of how big or tiny, is unacceptable. As a result, clients who feel unsatisfied with their current situation throng therapists' offices, pharmaceutical businesses, and the self-help sections of bookstores. The Question still remains which course of action should we take then? The new alternative to this modern day monster is what Korah Na’adzenga attempts to communicate on the episode of the DZÁNEN podcast. Resume Virtues Vs. Eulogy Virtues - How changing your perspective on life can change your understanding of success.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RÉSUMÉ VIRTUES AND EULOGY VIRTUES? When looking at values, particularly from an end-of-life perspective, there can be a difference in our priorities. We love to portray a certain image in our daily interactions, on our résumé or CV, or social media. We feel the pressure to convey the busy, successful, manicured beauty of life the world seems to demand. But is that the life we truly want? Are they the people we really want to be? Do we want to be remembered for being busy? For our job title? For our holiday pictures? One of the best books I read this year was by David Brooks Titled "The Road to character"  He said and I quote   "It occurred to me that there were two sets of virtues, the résumé virtues and the eulogy virtues. The résumé virtues are the skills you bring to the marketplace. The eulogy virtues are the ones that are talked about at your funeral — whether you were kind, brave, honest or faithful. Were you capable of deep love?We all know that the eulogy virtues are more important than the résumé ones. But our culture and our educational systems spend more time teaching the skills and strategies you need for career success than the qualities you need to radiate that sort of inner light. Many of us are clearer on how to build an external career than on how to build inner character". In the podcast episode Korah Na'adzenga shares some suggestions to help ensure that you stay focused on your eulogy virtues — on building and maintaining the kind of character that you can be proud of.

INTRODUCING: The DZÁNEN podcast with Korah Na'adzenga

"We might never attain perfect understanding of the world, and have all the ansanswers to life, but we can at least strive to become less and less wrong each day" The DZÁNEN Podcast: Connecting the dots between personal development, productivity, mindfulness and spirituality with a holistic focus on mind, body and soul. Growing up can be tough and adulthood is hard, This is because, while we were learning algebra, isosceles triangles or whatever, nobody was telling us grades and marks are overrated and education is just the tips on the iceberg. sadly, our formal educational systems do not provide us with a holistic framework for living a full and happy life.  Growing in Nigeria, we went through an educational system with a heavy emphasis on rut learning, cram, memorise and repeat!  There are TOO many things we didn't learn growing up that we should have.  personally, folks never told me, holistic wellbeing means paying a balanced attention to mind, body and spirit...I wasn't told how paying bills sucks and when I start working, I am supposed to negotiate my salaries... I wasn't told I am the master of my fate and the captain of my soul and destiny.  Through the DZÁNEN Podcast, Korah Na'adzenga hopes to create with words and provide strategies and tools to help you explore your potential, rekindle your passions, find new level of productivity, live healthier with fewer regrets and impact your communities.  Just incase you’re wondering, DZÁNEN (pronounced with the "D" Silent - Z /a/ nen)  is an indigenous Nigerian name from the Tiv Nation of Benue state, that translates "GO FORTH" which literally means "EMERGE" "POP OUT" or "COME OUT FORCEFULLY OR SUDDENLY"
