Episode ChatCast 61: Stephen R. Bissette on 'The Brood' Cover

ChatCast 61: Stephen R. Bissette on 'The Brood'

Comic Book Legend Stephen R. Bissette joins us in the Dork Cave to discuss his new critical analysis of David Cronenberg's "The Brood." Yeah, you read that right. The artist who radically altered the landscape of comics alongside Alan Moore and John Totleben with "The Saga of the Swamp Thing" has just cranked out a nearly 700-page book on David Cronenberg's gnarliest confrontation on the pains of divorce and child abuse. Bissette brings a tremendous amount of insight as well as a deeply personal passion for his celebration of the 1979 cult classic.  From P.S. Publishing [https://www.pspublishing.co.uk/the-brood-hardcover-by-stephen-r-bissette-4784-p.asp], Bissette's gargantuan analysis of the film spins out of their Midnight Movie Monograph series edited by Neal Snowden. In a universe where Tweets tend to represent the heights of criticism, P.S. Publishing demands a much more considered conversation on significant works of horror cinema. Be sure to follow the podcast on Instagram and Twitter @ITMODCast [https://twitter.com/itmodcast?lang=en], and you can follow the hosts @MouthDork [https://twitter.com/MouthDork] & @sidewalksiren [https://twitter.com/sidewalksiren]. Next week, you can listen to some serious Swamp Thing convo with Bissette over at the Comic Book Couples Counseling [https://cbccpodcast.podbean.com/] podcast.

ChatCast 60: Cuddles and Rage on 'Bites of Terror' Part I

This week's conversation with Liz Reed and Jimmy Reed is so epic that it took two channels to contain it. It's our first-ever crossover event with the Comic Book Couples Counseling podcast. These two long-time friends are currently in the process of taking over their world as the dynamic art duo known as Cuddles and Rage, and next Tuesday sees the release of their new graphic novel "Bites of Terror: 10 Frightfully Delicious Tales" published by Quirk Books.  We have read the book, and we promise that the saga of the Cake Creeper is a must-have for your collection. We would not steer you wrong. Pre-order now wherever fine comics and books are sold. Cuddles and Rage are masters of "disturbingly cute stuff," and in this conversation, we discuss the construction of "Bites of Terror," including the practical, creative details as well as the influences that feed their work. Liz and Jimmy are like-minded movie maniacs, and it shows in every inch of their stories. Next Tuesday, you can listen to the rest of the interview over at the Comic Book Couples Counseling [https://cbccpodcast.podbean.com] podcast, where the conversation focuses a little more on the challenges and joys of working with your partner.  Be sure to follow the podcast on Instagram and Twitter @ITMODCast [https://twitter.com/itmodcast?lang=en] and you can follow the hosts @MouthDork [https://twitter.com/MouthDork] & @sidewalksiren [https://twitter.com/sidewalksiren]. Episode ChatCast 59: Brea Grant on 'Lucky' Cover

ChatCast 59: Brea Grant on 'Lucky'

Brea Grant, star of 'After Midnight' joins us on today's episode to talk filmmaking and art. The Indie Dork recently went out to Los Angeles to host the Q&A's for the premiere of that film. He returned from the trip with a couple of rad conversations.   Brea gives an amazing performance in 'After Midnight'. There is a fourteen-minute, single shot in that film that is pure cinematic magic. We talk a bit about what went into the construction of that scene. We also talk about two of her other upcoming projects. She's written and starred in a film called 'Lucky', directed by Natasha Kermani. The film, meant to premiere at SXSW, will be showing at the Chattanooga Film Festival. Check out two episodes back where we talk with the festival director and then go buy your tickets! Join us at the festival! We also get into her latest directorial feature, '12 Hour Shift', which will be premiering at this year's Tribeca!    Be sure to follow the podcast on Instagram and Twitter @ITMODCast. You can follow our guest on Twitter @BreaGrant and you can follow the host @WBDass.

ChatCast 58: A.T. White on 'You Were Never Really Here'

A.T. White, the director of 'Starfish,' returns, and this time he's bringing The Best Film of the Decade with him. That's right, according to Al, the Lynne Ramsay directed, Jaoquin Phoenix starring violent revenge drama known as 'You Were Never Really Here' ranks above all others. Is he crazy? To determine that, we invited a dozen patrons from the Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester, Virginia, to debate the topic. The conversation is spirited, joyous, and celebratory of the craft we all so dearly love. You haven't quite heard an ITMODChastCast quite like this one, yet. Be sure to follow the podcast on Instagram and Twitter @ITMODCast. You can follow A.T. White @MrAlWhite. You can stay abreast of all things happening at the Alamo Winchester @alamowinchester, and you can follow the hosts @MouthDork & @WBDass.
