Ep. 164 - How to Trust When Life Makes No Sense
Ever felt like you're gripping the steering wheel of life so tightly your knuckles turn white? Ever tried to control, predict, forescript, manipulate reality because what you really want is certainty? In this profound episode of The Manifestation Method, I'm talking about Bitachon—Hebrew for trust—not when everything is working out, but in that space between, the unknown, the void where you're being asked to trust what you cannot yet see.
I'm opening with what trust is NOT: it's not passive, not "sit back and do nothing," not a goal you reach once and have forever, not blind optimism, not dissociation with good PR. Real trust—Bitachon—is a deeply embodied relationship with life itself. It's knowing that even when you cannot see the full picture, there is intelligence moving through your path. Even the delay turns into something sacred unfolding for you. Your fear is not the ultimate authority on reality.
Drawing on Kabbalistic and Hasidic teachings—I'm revealing the difference between Emunah (faith—believing God is capable, God is infinite possibility) and Bitachon (active certainty that God is RIGHT NOW in this situation working on your behalf, then taking actions to prove you embody that knowing). Bitachon is embodied faith. Faith is the knowing. Bitachon is proving you know through your actual actions. When you genuinely embody Bitachon, you create the vessel for good to come through. Your trust is not just a response to reality—it actually shapes your reality. Trust comes first. Evidence comes after.
I'm breaking down the story of the Israelites leaving Egypt—400+ years of enslavement (generational trauma, nervous systems wired for captivity, survival, endurance). They left without a plan, no five-year roadmap, no GPS, no survival guide. Just unleavened bread that didn't have time to rise and the instruction: "Go. Just go." The sea did not split before they walked toward it. It only split when Nachshon walked into the sea up to his nose—water at his nostrils, Egyptians behind them with spears, nowhere to go. By any rational calculation it was already too late. But that's when the miracle happened. When he committed fully with no guarantee of outcome, reality reorganized itself.
This episode includes the neuroscience of why trust is hard: when you've been through hard things, your nervous system learns "good things end, safe things become unsafe, what I love gets taken away." So it starts to brace against good things, anticipate collapse inside expansion, feel suspicious that things could be easy. You sabotage what feels unsustainable—pick fights when things are going well, catastrophize, get sick before big wins, shrink opportunities to safe familiar size. Not weakness—your nervous system protecting you from devastation of another loss by not letting you fully receive in the first place.
You'll learn about coherence from HeartMath research: when heart and brain are in coherence (genuine positive emotion, genuine trust, genuine openness), your actual electromagnetic field measurably changes. The signal your body broadcasts into the quantum shifts. Kabbalah mirrors this—when you're in Bitachon, you become a vessel, receptive in a way that allows abundance, clarity, connection, synchronicity to flow through rather than being forced. You stop being a closed fist trying to grab what you need and become an open hand able to receive it.
Whether you're exhausted from holding the universe together or waiting for the sea to split before you take the step, this episode offers the practice that changes everything: Trust is not a feeling you either have or don't. It's a practice like yoga—daily, sometimes hourly, sometimes minute by minute. Returning to the decision that you are held and divinely guided. The universe is not indifferent to you. The sea will split, is already splitting. Your job is to keep walking toward it.
Press play and discover: you're not exhausted because life is hard. You're exhausted because your nervous system believes it has to hold the entire universe together to be safe. You can put it down. That job belongs to something much larger than you—and it's very good at its job, especially when you let go. The step itself is the signal. Your willingness is the invitation. You are so much more held than you know.
