051 - Empire Records

Another teen movie for our cohosts Carolyn and Colin  this month with a viewing of the cult classic, Empire Records, starring 90's icons Liv Tyler and Renee Zellweger. This movie was not a hit at the time of it's release, but has since become a beloved staple of the genre. 050 - The Breakfast Club

A pinnacle film of both the teen movie genre and 80's flicks, The Breakfast Club is John Hughes' most iconic film. Starring almost exclusively members of the Brat Pack, including Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Anthony Michael Hall, Emilio Estevez, and Ally Sheedy, this R-rated film packs a lot of drama and comedy into its 97 minute run time.  Join our cohosts as they break down their favourite moments and talk about the cliches that this movie is responsible for spawning in the growing teen movie genre.  Next up? 049 - MR RIGHT

If you're into indie, high-octane rom com's, this month's Movie Exchange episode is for you! Sam Rockwell, Anna Kendrick, and Tim Roth starred in 2015's underrated comedy Mr. Right. With a 90 minute run time, smart dialogue and fantastic chemistry between the leads, this film was just a really FUN watch for our hosts! Next up? 048 - HELL OR HIGH WATER

For our first watch of 2025, The Movie Exchange hosts Carolyn and Colin watched Hell of High Water, a modern Western from 2016 that has been on Carolyn's rewatch list for quite some time. Written by one of the cohosts' favourite writers, Taylor Sheridan, and starring Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Jeff Bridges and Gil Birmingham, this movie is both action packed and moving. With visuals and themes that stick with you long after the credits roll, this movie gets 2 thumbs up from our team. A rare movie that earns its run time, we highly recommend giving it a watch.  Next up?
