This week on the show, I have a CrossFit Level 1 coach, a Quarterfinals qualifier in the 2026 CrossFit Games season, a new dad, and a man working on his PhD. My guest is Itay Ozer! Itay is a coach and member at CrossFit North Scottsdale, and in this story we explore his background from growing up in Israel playing a variety of sports, to moving to the USA at 16 years old without knowing English, and how sports gave him a way to become a part of the community around him. Then we get into how he found CrossFit, exploring the challenges he faced when he started, what he has learned inside of the gym that helps his life out of it, and how coaching became an opportunity for him to further his own development and the development of the community around him. We wrap the episode with a great conversation about what it means to us to set the example for our families and children as it relates to fitness and exercise. With both of us having young children, we can see how important it is for our kids to see us living a healthy and active lifestyle from a young age, and this conversation shows he we plan to do that for our own families, and how you can for yours as well.
