Songhacks Episode 3 - 'Birds Of Hell Pt. 1'

This episode, the first of two parts, features an interview with songwriter Pete Murdoch aka Birds of Hell. Al asks questions about Pete's formative, musical experience; his creative process; songwriting as self therapy and as a means to express male frustration and anger. Featuring three tracks: Los Yarmouth Two Brothers Practice Punching My Hands Son Part two will feature a song Pete and Al have started writing together and - once it's finished - their reflections on the collaboration.

Songhacks Episode 2 - with guest Iain Lowery

Al's long time friend and musical collaborator Iain Lowery joins him once again in this second episode of the Songhacks podcast. Around two years ago Iain and Al wrote the song Mothers Little Soldier specifically as the centrepiece for a podcast series that, for a variety of reasons, got shelved. Al decided to resurrect the material, finish it off and release it as part of Songhacks. There's a recording, from 2013 of Iain responding to questions that Al sent him followed by a more recent interview. After that Al and Iain discuss the collaboration and analyse the song they wrote. Songhacks Episode 1 'One Month Album'

Introducing episode 1 of the Songhacks podcast, presented by UK songwriter and songwriting teacher Al Southgate. In this inaugural episode Al and friends explore their participation in the 'One Month Album' challenge; the idea to write, record and upload an album of 10 songs, or 35 minutes in length, all within the space of a month. Featuring a candid conversation about the ins and outs of creating an album in a month between Al and songwriters; Iain Lowery,from the UK; Camille Davila, originally from California and Heidi Goodbye from Norway.
