Episode Getting Stuff Done Holistically - What Task Managers Won’t Tell You Cover

Getting Stuff Done Holistically - What Task Managers Won’t Tell You

http://metamonks.com/getting-stuff-done-holistically/ I’m totally addicted to my task manager. The piece of software that I can fill with certain things, that are floating around and occupying my brain. I can get them out of my head, and tackle them whenever I need to. However, while those tools are good in achieving one specific thing, they don’t really create an holistic overview about what to do. They lack certain meta data that you need for making good decisions. Task managers are exceptionally good nowadays, for achieving things like: Sorting your tasks by due date – and seeing which fire to extinguish next Sorting your tasks by projects – giving you an overview what needs to be done to move a project forward Sorting your tasks by assignee – providing you an overview about who should be working on what Those are essential, but not the really important criteria, that we require for making exceptional decisions. I’d like to motivate you to look at at least three more factors, when mentally sorting your tasks.

Episode The Esoteric Advantages of Mastermind Groups Cover

The Esoteric Advantages of Mastermind Groups

http://metamonks.com/the-esoteric-advantages-of-mastermind-groups/ Did you know that all successful people are in some sort of a mastermind group? No one does it all alone. It doesn’t matter how you define success for yourself – you need the cumulated power of multiple individuals for getting there. Interestingly enough, this is not only a matter of economic advantages. It’s not (only) about helping each other out on the material level, or on the level of “insider information”. There’s an esoteric concept behind the collectiveness of minds, which underlines the necessity for mastermind like structures. I’m going into this a bit in this video. Inspired by my own experiences, but of course also by Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” (Chapter 9). If you’re looking to connect with likeminded soulful entrepreneurs, and maybe even kick off a mastermind, join the Soulful Hustle Tribe. https://www.facebook.com/groups/891619127549766/

Episode The Four Simple Pillars for Building Beneficial Habits Cover

The Four Simple Pillars for Building Beneficial Habits

http://metamonks.com/pillar-habits/ Watch out: Simple doesn’t mean easy! But: simple things can be very, very impactful. In this video I’m referencing Gretchen Rubin’s “Better Than Before”, and share my key take-aways with you. Nutshellized: There are four pillar habits, and if you master those, it will be easier for you to take on new habits. I’ll go into the “why” in a minute. The four pillar habits are: 1. Sleep – For most of us this means sleeping more and sleeping better. 2. Move – Physical exercise, any kind of sport or workout. Regularely. 3. Eat and drink right – A good diet and not drinking to much alcohol. 4. Unclutter – Not accumulating stuff that clutters your space or mind. So it’s not a secret, nor a revolutionary insight that having basic control over those four things is a good thing, is it? But what I find interesting in Gretchen Rubin’s take on those is, that, if in place, they will help you taking on new habits. The reason being that they signalize your conscious as well as subconscious that you have your shit together. After all, you are not tired, are moving enough and heating healthy, and your household isn’t a mess. That’s a good foundation. Solid pillars to build upon. Looked at it differently: Having one of those out of control, will simply make it tremendously difficult for being disciplined enough for taking on new habits. So let’s go and get the four pillar habits in order!

Episode Why You Should Do Something That Sucks Cover

Why You Should Do Something That Sucks

http://metamonks.com/why-you-should-do-something-that-sucks/ Inspired by CamMi Pham’s post, I decided to push through and record this very podcast. Recording regular udpates was my new years resolution from last year. And 2015 passed without me getting into that habit. Don’t get me wrong. I tried. And then I had excuses. I do have excuses now. - I wanted to wait until I get my haircut. - I wanted to wait until I get a better camera - I wanted to wait until the lighting is better (not easy to catch perfect daylight in european winter…!) - And ultimately I wanted to wait until my English is perfect Well, pretty clear that the perfect scenario will never arrive. Now reading article You Will Always Suck at What You Do, Until You Do This on Medium made me finally doing it. The message pushing me over the edge is dead simple: The 100 first videos will suck Actually, the 100 first things of anything you will do will suck. But that’s ok. Do it anyhow! So better get used to my face, my German accent and my simple insights. They’re here to stay! Up to you: What are you currently postponing? Let me know!
