S|1 E|1"From Luby’s to Legislature" with Dr. Suzanna Hupp

Dr. Suzanna Hupp joins in and discusses how she survived the 1991 Luby’s Cafeteria massacre in Killeen, Texas. To this day, this incident is still one of the deadliest active shooter events this country has experienced.  The Luby’s cafe shooting occurred just two years after the Cleveland Elementary School shooting in 1989.  During that incident, the host of this podcast, Rob Young, was shot as a child.  Both of these incidents occurred before the term “active-shooter” was even defined, and both incidents were cited during our nation’s very firstly “assault weapon” ban.  Suzanna later went on to become a Texas legislator and continues to be a voice-of-reason in subject matters that are important to her and people that she was elected to represent.
