Why Community & Connection Are The Anchors of the Future

Episode 4 of The Whole Future Podcast. Andy and Max sit down with Jonathan Lusk — co-founder of Bird Dog, a tech-enabled land intelligence and asset management platform — and Zachary Levi, actor (Shazam, Tangled, Sarah's Oil) and founder of Wildwood, a creative campus community outside Austin — to work through what may be the most important question leaders and families will face in the next decade: as the screen, the chatbot, and the synthetic companion become easier than the people right in front of us, what becomes the anchor? The answer the four of them keep returning to is the same: real community and authentic human connection. Recent stats reveal what's happening in our current society and family. Two-thirds of babies under two now use screens, some up to eight hours a day. The average person spends six and a half hours daily inside a digital world — 19 years across a lifetime, nearly 29 for Gen Z. The synthetic flood is accelerating: 39% of new podcasts in nine days are AI-made, an AI blues singer hit eleven spots on the iTunes Top 100, and a virtual influencer with 9 million followers is generating millions a year. And it's getting more personal. 85% of UK boys aged 12–16 have spoken with an AI chatbot. One in five say they're dating one. A third of married Americans say AI gets their relationship struggles better than their spouse does. The split is simple: humans are drifting toward the synthetic because it's smoother, cheaper, and never asks anything back. And when that plays all the way out, the real question isn't technological. It's deeply human. When the easier version of love, friendship, and presence is always available — what holds a family, a marriage, a leader, a life together? The thesis of this episode is that community and connection aren't soft values. They're the anchors of the future. In this episode: * The deeper reason parents keep handing kids screens — and what early screen exposure is quietly reshaping in the developing brain * The synthetic flood: AI musicians topping the charts, virtual influencers with millions of followers, and what happens when audiences can't tell — or stop caring * Six migrations across 10,000 years that quietly replaced purpose, identity, and connection with wealth, work, and the self — and why rebuilding those three is the work of the next decade * Wildwood, the lie of the suburban checklist, and why intentional community may be the only honest answer to a world built on universal basic income * The hidden cost of AI companionship — what happens to a generation of boys who never have to face rejection, and to marriages where the algorithm listens better than the spouse * Why live, in-person experiences are about to come back stronger than ever — and why the premium on real human connection is only going to climb Consumers, critics, creators, cornerstones, connectors, and curators — the six categories that will decide who actually shapes the next decade, and why the connectors matter more than ever Listen on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-whole-future/id1887373533 [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-whole-future/id1887373533] Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/2UI4RWWC114 [https://youtu.be/2UI4RWWC114] Connect with Andy: LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/andymaurer/ [https://www.linkedin.com/in/andymaurer/] Website - https://pursuewhole.com/ [https://pursuewhole.com/] Uncover Your Purpose & Identity - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GGTF6HDT [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GGTF6HDT] Connect with Jonathan: LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathan-lusk-67b885248/ [https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathan-lusk-67b885248/] Connect with Max: LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/maxhansen/ [https://www.linkedin.com/in/maxhansen/] Connect with Zachary: IMDB - https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1157048/ [https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1157048/] Wyldwood - https://wyldwood.com [https://wyldwood.com] The views expressed by me and all guests are personal opinions and do not constitute Financial, Medical, or Legal advice.

Abundance Is Coming. Purpose and Connection May Not Be Included

Episode 3 of The Whole Future Podcast. Andy and Jared sit down with Kim Davids — President and CEO of the Arizona Builders Alliance — to work through one of the most important questions leaders and families will face in the next decade: when machines can provide almost everything, what do humans actually live for? The conversation starts with Neuralink and a man who lost his voice to ALS and got it back through a brain implant — thinking words a computer speaks out loud. It moves into the data nobody wants to sit with. Humanoid robot costs dropped 71% in two years. AI inference costs fell 98%. Everything made by machines is getting cheaper. Everything requiring a human — housing, childcare, healthcare, college — keeps climbing. The split is simple: costs fall when machines do the work, and rise when humans do. And when that plays all the way out, the real question isn't economic. It's personal. When robots build your home, grow your food, and run your business — what are you actually for? In this episode: * Neuralink, brain-computer interfaces, and the coming ability to modulate emotions — would you eliminate sadness if you could? * Why humanoid robot costs dropped 40% in a single year, and what that means for construction, manufacturing, and the workforce * The hidden problem with humanoids in your home — what happens when your kids bond with one and you tell them it's time to upgrade * Everything made by machines is getting cheaper. Everything made by humans keeps rising. What that split means for the next decade * What stays scarce in a world of total abundance — land, authentic connection, creativity, meaning, and time * How grief, purpose, and the question of what makes a life worth telling shaped the most honest moments of this conversation Listen on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-whole-future/id1887373533 [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-whole-future/id1887373533] Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/cRPtog2ddrY [https://youtu.be/cRPtog2ddrY] Connect with Andy: LinkedIn [https://www.linkedin.com/in/andymaurer/] | Website [https://pursuewhole.com/]  Connect with Max: LinkedIn [https://www.linkedin.com/in/maxhansen/]  Connect with Jared: LinkedIn [https://www.linkedin.com/in/jared-kredit-a252a04/]  Connect with Kim: LinkedIn [https://www.linkedin.com/in/kimberly-warzynski-davids] The views expressed by me and all guests are personal opinions and do not constitute Financial, Medical, or Legal advice.

Episode AI, God & the Future of Your Family | Jim Mullins on Faith, Robots & Staying Human Cover

AI, God & the Future of Your Family | Jim Mullins on Faith, Robots & Staying Human

In Episode 2 of The Whole Future Podcast, Andy, Jared, Max, and lead pastor Jim Mullins of Redemption Church-Tempe dig into the questions most business podcasts are afraid to ask — what happens to faith, family, and human connection when AI can be your therapist, your companion, and possibly your pseudo-god? They unpack why computer science degrees are collapsing for the first time in a decade, how AI companionship is quietly replacing human relationships for millions of people, and why autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots aren't a distant future — they're already here. But beneath all the data is a deeper conversation about identity, purpose, and what it means to raise kids and lead teams in a world moving faster than we can process. In this episode: * Why undergraduate computer science enrollment dropped 8% — and what it signals about the future of education * AI companions, digital relationships, and the slow erosion of human connection * Is AI becoming a pseudo-god? Faith, meaning, and the search for answers in a tech-driven world * Autonomous vehicles and robo-taxis — Jensen Huang, Elon Musk, and hundreds of millions of self-driving cars within 5 years * Humanoid robots and what leaders should actually be preparing their families for * How to set green light, yellow light, red light boundaries with AI before it sets them for you Listen on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-whole-future/id1887373533 Watch the Episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/dUdjxgJu3lo [https://youtu.be/dUdjxgJu3lo] Connect with Andy: LinkedIn [https://www.linkedin.com/in/andymaurer/] | Website [https://pursuewhole.com/] | Uncover Your Purpose & Identity [https://www.amazon.com/Uncover-Your-Purpose-Identity-Authentic/dp/B0GGTF6HDT/ref=sr_1_1?crid=LXQRQEK2EEJN&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.7AjhGM9fxc5NehpQXIaNLDzZ1vjLgLF26lCCVeR6drGPiBntJD7Izs57C4IfTAh-i681lAPxnJ32CdsZdIW563iBmNBkwtGFx3qHWvGJ6zvSuzjh00FEyAc1Z03-6YJL7DOhh66psQilIAN2qK4B-kh4wJqDA08DpXdLFbsryFJA9_i7HyJAYXjAU8a2Z2OMQRy7Y8SGHtDWZgqW9iDjgLumhrVhm4UI_Vn5uAIZ7gE.ciXjj2BzRPi63xCSVhdKjzGPxMqwaMapu8Fp2qYHiOU&dib_tag=se&keywords=uncover+your+purpose+and+identity&qid=1775279615&sprefix=uncover+your+purpose+and+idenity%2Caps%2C193&sr=8-1] Connect with Max: LinkedIn [https://www.linkedin.com/in/maxhansen/] Connect with Jared: LinkedIn [https://www.linkedin.com/in/jared-kredit-a252a04/] Connect with Jim Mullins: Website [https://tempe.redemptionaz.com/leadership] The views expressed by me and all guests are personal opinions and do not constitute Financial, Medical, or Legal advice.

Episode "AI Is Repricing Everything — Are You Ready?" Cover

"AI Is Repricing Everything — Are You Ready?"

In the debut episode of The Whole Future Podcast, Andy, Jared, Max, and financial advisor Bryce Keffeler dig into the AI disruption already reshaping wealth management, SaaS, recruiting, and the way we work — and what it means to stay grounded through it all. They unpack the $300 billion market value wipeout that followed Anthropic's latest AI releases, why Salesforce may never be the hub of your business again, and how AI trading systems are already doubling the S&P's returns. But this episode goes deeper than the data. The real conversation is about identity, purpose, and what it means to raise kids — and lead teams — in a world where machines are taking over the thinking. In this episode: * Why wealth management, legal, and accounting are about to be fundamentally reshaped * AI trading models posting 51% annual returns — what that means for human advisors * Universal Basic Income vs. universal re-education: which path do we choose? * The skills the World Economic Forum says will matter most by 2030 * Why Elon Musk's "no one has to work" future might actually make us miserable * How to raise resilient kids when the future rewards the entrepreneurial 5%
