This one is short and to the point. I believe that the majority of the solutions we are facing regarding gun violence in America comes from the statistical data that is being ignored completely.  The majority of what people believe is the cause of gun violence in America, isn't. We need to start looking at this issue from position of reality, and not political allegiance. Open minds create positive outcomes. As a nation, we have lost the ability to communicate. It's time to fix that.

In this episode we dive into some real mental health talk with Dr. Jena Casas. Jena is a licensed clinical police and public safety psychologist who practices in the great state of Nevada. She specializes in providing services to first responders and their families. She has published many articles, presented at many seminars and conferences, and treated numerous individuals within the law enforcement community. Her mission is to provide first responders with the tools they need in order to be successful in the arena of mental health and wellbeing. Jena is a wealth of knowledge and I truly enjoyed hearing her perspective and outlook on what can only be described as a epidemic currently facing the law enforcement community. Dustin Hill is a retired cop turned gun manufacturer and part-time archeologist- not officially, but you'll have to listen to hear more. From entering the narcotics underworld of the upper Midwest, to diving into some of the most questionable waters imaginable, Dustin has seen it all and has the t-shirt to prove it. From his own personal battles with PTSD to starting a dream business post retirement, Dustin has an amazing story to tell. It was a pleasure speaking with him and I look forward to having him back on the show again someday. Enjoy.

S2 Episode 16: Special Guest Darrel Lambert

In this episode we sit down with Detective Darrel Lambert to discuss some interesting topics involving interview and interrogation, confidence in interviewing, crimes against children, and how we can help keep our kids safe. Darrel currently works for a metropolitan police department in the great state of Texas. Prior to his role as a Detective, he spent five years on patrol, one year of undercover work focusing on narcotics purchases, and 4 years on the gang unit.  In January of 2018 he was promoted to the position of detective where he was assigned to the nighttime violent crimes unit.  In the fall of 2018, he moved to the child abuse unit where he found his true calling. This is also where Darrel saw the importance for ongoing training for interview and interrogation. After several years, Darrel stepped into the training arena himself and began teaching. Darrel and his partner have since taught at the Crimes Against Children Conference for the last three years, and in 2023, they formed their own company, Modern Interviewing Solutions.  Darrel has a passion for teaching and is grateful for the opportunities he has had to teach law enforcement investigators around Central Texas and, starting next year, to departments in other states as well. Along with his teaching, Darrel has also written the manuscript to a book titled "Fundamentals of Interview and Interrogation" which will be published and available for purchase soon.
