Do not give your past the power to define your future

Today I have a word for you: Do not give your past the power to define your future. Hey! Are you still caught up in a swirl of your past and can't seem to break free? Is it dictating your future? Do you know that how we see the circumstances around us – or people around us- we all see it through a lens – the lens of maybe how we were raised or what we were taught as a child- or if we were really hurt or wounded and we have not had the proper healing- we actually begin to see things through that lens- it’s a tainted lens. Last week I spoke on Part 1 of Self Harm- What it is and why people do it. This week I am speaking on how to break free & stay free. In this podcast, I am sharing some practical steps on how to get free from this vicious cycle of self-harm. There is always hope and you can be free. You may be thinking, Ok I see some of the possible roots of self-harm in my life but now what is the step forward? How do I deal with this?  God sees your pain and will meet you where you are. He is the only one who can truly touch your heart so deeply that your life can change. God wants to help you. He created you and loves you and sees the pain inside that you are trying to release or express through abusing yourself. God has already paid the price for your sin. Overcoming Rejection

Rejection can strike anyone- it can affect the most handsome, the most beautiful, ones that are extremely intelligent and intellectually challenged. Rejection can be based on skin color, ethnic origin, or gender. It can happen for no good reason and entirely outside our control. When we are children or teens, rejection from others can eat at the tender root of our lives and cause a lot of damage it begins to affect how we view the world and view others and in return holds us in bondage. In this episode, I invite my husband, Dr. Cornelius Quek, to share a personal testimony of how he faced rejection at 16 years old when he made the decision to follow Christ. It is a beautiful story- and a provoking story of we should all be courageous enough to follow Christ, no matter the cost. I will also end the episode by sharing some foundational truths with you so you can move from Fear to Freedom and not stay stuck in bondage to the spirit of rejection.
