Episode Friday Focus | Discerning Genuine Spiritual Growth with Micah Herbster Cover

Friday Focus | Discerning Genuine Spiritual Growth with Micah Herbster

What does real spiritual growth actually look like? In a world where outward expressions of faith can be mistaken for genuine transformation, it’s easy to confuse activity with authenticity. How can we tell the difference between what is truly the work of God and what is simply human effort? In this Friday Focus episode, we explore the nature of genuine spiritual advancement—what it is, what it isn’t, and why it matters so deeply for our churches, families, and personal lives. Drawing insight from Jonathan Edwards, who carefully examined revival in his own day, we’ll uncover timeless principles that help us discern the true work of the Spirit of God. Join us as we look beyond the surface and rediscover what it really means to see God at work. // Friend of Foe (1 John 4:1) [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/walk-talks/id1626316493?i=1000661896732] The Ultimate Test (1 John 4:2-3) [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/walk-talks/id1626316493?i=1000661896732] The Superior Spirit (1 John 4:4) [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/walk-talks/id1626316493?i=1000662285419] The Audience Matters (1 John 4:5-6) [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/walk-talks/id1626316493?i=1000662398495] The Source of Love (1 John 4:7-8) [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/walk-talks/id1626316493?i=1000662514844]

Episode Final Reflections: A Review of Psalm 119 Cover

Final Reflections: A Review of Psalm 119

In this final episode of The Word Within, we pause to reflect on the journey through Psalm 119 and bring its truths into focus one last time. After walking stanza by stanza through this “little Bible,” we now step back to hear the psalm as a whole and consider what it means for our daily lives. Together, we revisit four key themes that have shaped our study—heart-delight, heart-dedication, heart-dependence, and heart-direction—each pointing us to a life formed and sustained by the Word of God. This episode also includes a full reading of Psalm 119, a look ahead at what’s coming next for Walk Talks, and a heartfelt thank you to those who made this study possible. As this series comes to a close, the invitation remains: don’t let the journey end here. Let the Word continue to guide your steps, steady your heart, and deepen your dependence on the Lord.

In addition, Amy shares a growing burden for women in the church today. With clarity and compassion, she addresses the subtle yet powerful influence of feminism and humanism, and calls women back to a biblical understanding of identity, purpose, and devotion to Christ. Episode Deepening Dependence (Psalm 119:169-176) Cover

Deepening Dependence (Psalm 119:169-176)

As our journey through Psalm 119 draws near its conclusion, this second-to-last episode brings a powerful and personal focus: Deepening Dependence. In this devotional from Psalm 119:169–176, Mike Herbster highlights the psalmist’s urgent cries for understanding, deliverance, and help—revealing a heart that has learned to rely fully on God. These final verses shift from confident declarations to humble desperation, reminding us that spiritual maturity is not marked by independence, but by an increasing awareness of our need for the Lord. With repeated pleas like “give me understanding,” “deliver me,” and “seek thy servant,” this passage paints a vivid picture of a believer who knows exactly where to turn. Whether you’re finishing this study strong or feeling your own need for renewed dependence, this episode will challenge and encourage you to lean more fully on God’s Word and His faithful care.
