Silkworm (Tim Midyett)

For the second episode of our 2026 series, Jeremy and Sean were joined by Tim Midyett, bassist and co-vocalist of the legendary Silkworm. Formed in Missoula, MT in 1987, bandmates and songwriting partners Midyett, Joel RL Phelps and Andy Cohen sought their fortunes in Seattle in 1990, where they would quickly recruit powerhouse drummer Michael Dahlquist. After an early run of brilliant albums, lengthy tours and a burgeoning recording relationship with Steve Albini, Phelps departed the band in 1994. The remaining members would continue as a trio, signing to Matador for 1996's Firewater and 1997's Developer. The later-90s and early-'00s would see them sign to Touch & Go Records, with each member eventually migrating to Chicago as they adjusted to the realities of life and careers outside of being in a perennially cult-favorite rock band. Dahlquist and two friends were tragically killed in an automobile crash in July of 2005, ending the band's incredible 18-year, nine-album run. Chokes!, a posthumous EP featuring Dahlquist's final recordings, was released the following year while Cohen and Midyett would go on to form Bottomless Pit and several other beloved individual projects. Silkworm would tentatively reunite (with Phelps returning in an official capacity for the first time since 1994) for a tribute performance at Albini's memorial service in 2024, which opened the door for their widely-acclaimed recent series of shows featuring Songs: Ohia/Mint Mile vet Jeff Panall on drums. We are enormous fans and are incredibly excited to be bringing them out for this year's fest. Windy & Carl (Windy Weber and Carl Hultgren)

For the first episode of our 2026 series, Jeremy spoke to Dearborn, MI's ambient/space rock legends Windy & Carl in advance of their upcoming run of shows here in the Denver area. Formed in 1993 by the husband-and-wife duo of bassist/singer Windy Weber and guitarist Carl Hultgren, their achingly beautiful minimalist compositions draw heavily from Spacemen 3, My Bloody Valentine and krautrock bands like Can and Neu!. They were kind enough to walk us through their over-three decade-long career as outsider art heroes and their recent return to live performance. Windy & Carl will be performing Saturday, May 16th at The Hayloft in Longmont with Chaz Prymek, Matthew Sage and New Standards Men and Sunday, May 17th at The Bug Theatre in Denver with Ritger and Weathers. Black Eyes (Dan Caldas and Mike Kanin)

For this episode of the Ghost Canyon Fest podcast, Jeremy and Sean were joined by Dan Caldas and Mike Kanin of the legendary Washington D.C. band Black Eyes. Formed in 2001, the dual-vocal/dual-bass/dual-drum band released an incredible self-titled debut through Dischord Records in 2003 which showcased their frenetic approach to dub-influenced post punk. After an extensive touring and recording schedule, the band broke up in 2004 shortly before the release of their second album "Cough", which saw them add saxophone and push their sound further into experimental territory. They returned in 2023 for the 20th anniversary of their debut to huge acclaim, playing a handful of dates across the US and publishing a zine called Speaking In Tongues, which chronicles the history of the band and includes a selection of demos and live recordings documenting their original run. Sam Prekop and Matthew Sage

For this episode of the Ghost Canyon Fest podcast, Jeremy was joined by Sam Prekop and Matthew Sage. Sam is a legendary guitarist and modular synth talent who has been creating music for over 25 years as both a solo artist and a member of The Sea and Cake. Matthew, in addition to releasing his own musical soundscapes as M Sage, is a co-organizer of OneStraw, which organizes performances across the Colorado Front Range and the southwest. Drew has appeared on the fest as a member of both New Standards Men in 2023 and Aseethe in 2024, as well as contributing greatly with single-day posters and other assorted graphics while also providing moral support for our questionable ideas. Drew is a multi-instrumentalist who, in addition to his work in those bands, performs incredible drone/ambient music under the name Floating Cave.
