The Big Life Pivot: Episode 4 with Jim de Zoete

In this episode of The Big Life Pivot, Ursula speaks with Jim de Zoete, a creative consultant with a background in advertising, broadcast, film and agency leadership. After decades in full-time creative roles — from copywriter to executive creative director — Jim found himself facing a transition he hadn’t chosen: redundancy from an agency he had helped lead and deeply cared about. What followed was a period of fear, uncertainty, liberation and surprising creative renewal. Jim shares what it felt like to hold two truths at once: the anxiety of losing stability, and the quiet crackle of possibility. He talks about the importance of leaving well, having conversations before you know the answer, and allowing space for new ideas to emerge. This is a conversation about creative identity, dignity in endings, networking as nourishment, and learning to live with both fear and excitement in the same room. Jim is an ECD and creative consultant, working with brands and agencies such as Google, Paramount TV and Saboteur, leading projects and workshops. His work has picked up awards at all the major advertising awards globally. He loves nothing more than a knotty creative challenge and a room full of humans. The Big Life Pivot Episode 3: Jac Godfrey

In this episode of The Big Life Pivot, Ursula speaks with Jac Godfrey about leaving a successful legal career and stepping into a very different way of living and working through yoga. Jac’s story is not one of dramatic escape or sudden transformation. She loved the legal profession and built a meaningful career within it. But over time, something shifted. As the profession changed around her, the work began to feel less human, less sustainable, and less aligned with who she was becoming. What began as a yoga class after the birth of her daughter gradually became something much bigger: a path back to herself, a new relationship with her mind, and eventually a whole new professional identity. This conversation explores the courage of listening to what no longer fits, the exhaustion of carrying a new future before you can share it, and the quiet power of trusting that life can become not just okay, but brilliant. In This Episode Ursula and Jac explore: How a single yoga class became the start of a deeper life shift Why Jac’s move away from law was not about hating her old career The changes in the legal profession that made the work feel less human The slow overlap between an old identity and a new one The role counselling played in helping her make sense of the pivot Why keeping big change private for a while can feel exhausting How support, timing, and stepping stones can make reinvention possible What success looks like when it is rooted in freedom, health, and groundedness

Episode 2: Listening to the 'niggle' with Ben Scoggins

In this episode of The Big Life Pivot, Ursula Capell is joined by Ben Scoggins, outgoing CEO of Organic, to explore what happens when a quiet inner niggle grows too loud to ignore. Ben shares the story of leaving a successful London career in advertising and marketing to move to Devon with his wife and young family, in search of a life that felt more aligned. Together, Ursula and Ben talk about anxiety, uncertainty, belonging, career identity, transferable skills, and the courage it takes to make a change before you have every detail worked out. This is a thoughtful conversation about listening to what no longer fits, envisioning a different future, and finding the confidence to take the next step, even without a perfect plan. If you’ve ever felt stuck, restless, or caught in the in-between, this episode is for you.

The Big Life Pivot: Episode 1 with Adelynne Chao

Episode Description What if the life you’re living… isn’t one you consciously chose? In this founding episode of The Big Life Pivot, Ursula sits down with Adelynne Chao for an honest, thought-provoking conversation about desire, identity and the quiet courage required to redesign your life. From growing up between cultures to building a career that looked “perfect on paper,” Adelynne shares what it feels like to sense that something doesn’t quite fit - and what happens when you finally listen to that inner pull. This isn’t just a story about moving countries. It’s about belief systems. About agency. About becoming the person who can create change. Together, they explore: • Why wanting something “you can’t have” might actually be a call to transform • The hidden beliefs (“sunglasses”) shaping what you think is possible • What grief reveals when a dream falls apart • The shift from asking “Can I?” to “How can I?” • Why most big decisions aren’t permanent and how that changes everything • The surprising freedom in letting go of fantasy If you’ve ever thought: “I should just be grateful.” “Who am I to want more?” “It’s too late.” “What if I fail?” This episode is your invitation to look again. Because maybe you’re not stuck. Maybe you’re just wearing sunglasses. Key Takeaways: Desire can be information, not indulgence Beliefs are powerful, but they’re not facts Small experiments can unlock big shifts You can design your life, one choice at a time The transformation matters more than the destination Reflection Questions: Where in my life did I “land” rather than choose? What belief might I be ready to outgrow? If I gave myself a 3-month experiment, what would I try? What would change if I asked “How can I?” instead of “Can I?” Connect & Next Steps: If this conversation sparked something in you, make sure to: Follow or subscribe Leave a review Share this episode with someone who might need it You can also download Ursula’s free reflection guide: “Goodbye, stuck.
