Acerca de Campbells and Co

Campbells & Co is a podcast exploring life through the lens of elite sport - told from the athlete perspective. Hosted by Olympic champions and sisters Cate and Bronte Campbell, the podcast goes beyond medals and results to reveal what it really takes to perform at the highest level. From mindset and pressure to discipline and identity, they share lessons that extend far beyond the pool. Across a 12-episode season, Cate and Bronte are joined by some of Australia’s greatest Olympians and Paralympians to tackle the questions they’re asked most often and bring the Olympic experience into your fee

Dating as an elite athlete.

Welcome back to another episode of Campbells and Co. It’s a rough old dating world out there - but it can be even more tricky to date as an elite athlete. There is the sports bubble, the restrictive lifestyle, the all-encompassing nature of pursuing an Olympic dream, traveling for months at a time and not having a ‘normal’ work schedule.  Cate and Bronte share their own experiences with dating and bust a few myths along the way. If you enjoyed this episode, share it with a friend (or partner). We hope you enjoy this episode of Campbells & Co. An honest chat about Sibling Rivalry and Bronte addresses the Elephant in the Room.

Welcome back to another episode of Campbells and Co. If there is one question we get asked most often, it’s how do you manage sibling rivalry? Over the years we have given many different answers to this question. There is the polite ‘it was always a shared dream, so it’s great to do it together’. There is the  almost true ‘if I can’t win, I at least want my sister to win’.  While neither of these answers are wrong, they do not fully explore and elaborate on the complexities of competing with and against your sister on the world’s biggest stage for over a decade. Cate and Bronte share their tips for any siblings or parents struggling with this - because while competing at an Olympic Games against your sister is rare, the notion of sibling rivalry is commonplace in many households around Australia (and the world).  If you enjoyed this episode, share it with your sibling (or maybe parent). We hope you enjoy this episode of Campbells & Co. What drives performance? Technology or psychology?

Welcome back to another episode of Campbells and Co. This episode Cate and Bronte chat about the marathon world record. Kenyan Sebastian Sawe crossed the London marathon finish line in a staggering 1:59.30 - that’s an average running speed of 21km/h. . However, that was not the only extraordinary feat that race. Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha was only 11 second behind Sawe, running 1:59.41 in his London marathon debut. After the race, Sebastian Sawe was pictured holding up his shoes - which caused controversy when they were first released as critics claim it gave runners too much of a boost.  It raises the question, with not one but two men breaking the two hour barrier for the first time in an official race, was it the shoe technology that led to this feat? Or was the 2 hour marathon barrier a psychological barrier that once crossed, opens the door for others to follow? Let us know, we’d love to hear your thoughts. We hope you enjoy this episode of Campbells & Co. Injury disaster before the Olympics and recovering from ACL surgery.

Welcome back to another episode of Campbells & Co! We have had a 2 week break for the Easter week and to allow Bronte to recover from ACL surgery, but it’s good to be back! In keeping with the injury theme, this week Campbells & Co delve into injury management. Injuries don’t just take a physical toll, there is a huge psychological toll as well. Bronte shares her story of a long term shoulder injury. Since sustaining the injury in 1026 - just months before the Rio Olympic Games - she has gone on to win Olympic gold medals and world championship titles. She shares her knowledge and insight into long-term injury management. Cate shares the story of acute injury management. She woke up on the morning of the 100m freestyle at the Tokyo Olympics unable to turn her head. She and her team worked frantically over the next 12 hours to get her behind the starting blocks.  Navigating injuries can break you down physically and mentally, so sending live to anyone out there struggling with it. We hope this episode gave you some practical tips and made you feel less alone.. We hope you enjoy this episode of Campbells & Co.
