Westerners Want the Gov. Hands OFF Our Lands - EP 12

Hey all you outdoor and paddling nuts. Welcome back to another eppisode of Days On The Land Podcast! Today I want to talk about what public sentiment is like in the West with regard to the unprecedented assault on our public lands, waters, and wildlife. Colorado College that has a fantastic ecological, outdoor rec, and natural resource management programs, and the college puts out a regular study which includes extensive polling about conservation issues in the west. I think there is some really important findings in this study which comes out every year by the way. I'll link to the whole report in the notes so you can look at it yourself. I'll be putting up the graphics from the report on screen so you might want to watch this on YouTube. I'm more or less going to read from the study and will add some comments as needed. I think this study shows that we are not as divided as we think at lease not on this subject. And I'll bet we all have more issues in common if we could just get into the nuance of all things. I'm sitting down with Mark Zimmer known as "The Barefoot Paddler." He just completed his mapping of the Boundary Waters, the portage trails, routs, hiking trails and logging all camp sites, all barefoot. We talk about that, how he came to live his unique lifestyle, we talk barefooting, and general outdoor banter. The film Common Waters, by Rig to Flip and the Colorado Stream Access Coalition is coming Nov. 19th at the Oriental Theater in Denver. Also We need more people to sign the Stream Access Petition. In Colorado our right to paddle the publics waters is not a right at all. We are trying to change that for the good of both land owners and recreationists. Please take action.
