Acerca de The Science of Being: The Kitchen Table Podcast

"The first one. Where it all started. This is not a clinical conversation — it is a front lines field report from the space between what happened and what comes next. No distance. No polish. Just the truth of what it actually looks like out here. Pull up a chair. You have always had a seat at this table." Hosted by The Witness / David Wittenburg — a Vilomah, author of The Witness Series, and founder of The Echoes Project. Creator of the Ananta Forensic Record — a forensic architecture for the est. 18.7 million parents in the United States who have buried a child. No registry. No agency. No count. This podcast is part of the record. thewitnessechoes.com Resources and support at thewitnessechoes.com echoesproject.substack.com

Q&A Session 3 — The Kitchen Table

Three questions came in. Three answers that live in the same place — the architecture of what was built inside you, and what it takes to rebuild. This session covers: why feeling sorry for the person who hurt you doesn’t mean nothing happened. Why the apology reflex isn’t a habit — it’s a survival tool. And why boundaries can’t come before self-knowledge, and what to do when the self went underground. The Echoes of Time Q&A Session 2

Session two is here and the questions keep coming in. What stands out is that people are asking the same things in different words — which means these aren’t personal failures. They’re shared experiences most people are carrying quietly. This session covers three: Why do I over-explain everything — and why can’t I turn it off? What does it mean when you shut down every time someone gets close, and part of you is relieved when they pull away? And the one that hits hardest — I’ve been in therapy for two years, I understand everything, so why am I still doing it? The answers are in the patterns. The nervous system. The difference between the map and the road. The Echoes of Time Q&A Sessions

The Q&A Sessions are here. Since Episode 1, questions have been coming in. Tonight we sat down at the Kitchen Table and answered two of them. This session covers: — “I left six months ago. I know it was right. So why do I still miss him every day?” — “I grew up with a narcissistic father. Now I keep ending up in the same dynamic with different people. How do I break it?” No chapters. No lecture. Just honest answers in plain language — from someone who’s been in both of those rooms. If you’ve got a question — something you’ve been sitting with, something you’ve never said out loud — write in. theechoesproject@gmail.com [theechoesproject@gmail.com] — Subject line: Kitchen Table We read every one. EPISODE 11: What Remains

Chapter 11 is the last chapter. Not because the work is done — but because this is where the story lands. Not in resolution. In ownership. Episode 11 walks through Chapter 11 of The Echoes of Time — identity, integration, and what it means to stop proving yourself and start choosing. The old patterns don’t disappear. They just stop deciding. That distinction is everything. If you’ve been at this table since Episode 1, thank you. If this is your first time here, you’re welcome. Episode 12 is Q&A. A number of emails have come in throughout this series that haven’t been answered yet. That changes next episode. If you’re carrying a question — about grief, about identity, about anything covered in this series — bring it. 📩 echoesfounderproject@gmail.com [echoesfounderproject@gmail.com] Subject line: Kitchen Table No name required. EPISODE 10: Integration

Even after healing, the old habits didn’t just vanish. They still pop up, especially when I’m exhausted or stressed—kind of like muscle memory. I think of these moments as echoes. They’re like the sound of an old explosion; you can still hear it, but the blast can’t knock you down anymore. It’s not a “happily ever after” kind of cure, but it is real integration. The biggest shift is that I finally own my own system. Those old reflexes still show up, but they’ve lost their power—they’re just background noise now, not orders I have to follow. It’s enough for me. Not because everything is perfect, but because my past no longer has permission to run my life without my consent. Carry this with you: I finally own my own system I do not need to be in crisis to be alive. There’s plenty of room at the table.
