Why is intimacy scary?
To be intimate is to be deeply known and loved. That sounds really special but it takes a lot to invite your spouse: in-to-me-see. Wow! That’s true authenticity.
How is that incorporated in marriage? Well, when we look at Genesis 2:23, we see how Adam calls Eve, bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh. She was a part of him, both in how God formed her and in how he saw her as belonging with him.
Proverbs 30:18-19 says the way of a bridegroom with his bride is a marvelous mystery, almost too amazing for words. It’s a beautiful place, safe to be open, connect, touch, playfully engage, and even act foolishly in love.
Three Reasons Couples Struggle with a Deep Knowing of Each Other
1. Trust requires vulnerability.
2. Strong self-esteem helps you take risks.
3. Low self-value shuts you down.
Three Reminders of Why Being Intimate Matters
1. Treasure- You value you the process
2. Creative- You playfully engage
3. Sacred- You sense God’s honor
