Episode 4: When God has the Earth Swallow you Whole

This week, Patricia is joined by Rev. Melanie Firebaugh for a very scary story about God having the earth swallow people whole. Yes, it's in there--Numbers 16:1-35. It is a good conversation about sin, toxic behavior in the church, and gives us all an opportunity to check with ourselves and our intentions, and hopefully get a little closer to God in the process. **Just a head's up, the sound is not the best on this episode--we had some issues while recording--but I hope you enjoy it anyway!**

Welcome to the first episode of Scary Stories of the Bible Podcast! Join host, Rev. Patricia Lund, and special guest, Rev. Rebekah Rochte Votral, as they tackle the various scriptures in Exodus that mention God hardening Pharoah's heart. Every time his heart is hardened, a plague happens. The hardening of Pharoah's heart ultimately leads to Pharoah's demise and the genocide of an entire group of people. So, what do we do with a story condoning genocide? Does everything happen for a reason? Why do bad things happen to good people? These questions and more are brought up as we dive in to a scary story together!
