In a small coastal town which has been making big changes in the name of proactive sea rise adaptation, we meet with experts across a variety of fields including archaeology, environmental history, architecture, landscape architecture, and coastal ecology’s we explore how the memory of past storms impacted resilience leading up to Idalia, and how the memory of this most recent storm will leave its mark on the town moving forward. Joshua Lubben and Abigail Hummel provided voice acting for narration of historical accounts (W.P. Episode 1 - Atsena Otie's Ancient Past

University of Florida archaeologist Dr. Ken Sassaman provides an overview of the wide breadth of native and colonial occupation of Atsena Otie Key, and explains how differences in perception of time and memory between these cultures can impact our abilities to prepare.  In addition, we discuss his shift into studying more modern hurricane impacts such as the 1896 Cedar Keys hurricane as part of efforts to create more accessible collective memory for coastal residents to draw upon when assessing risk.  Joshua Lubben and Abigail Hummel provided voice acting for narration of historical accounts (W.P.
