Creating conceptual photobooks: Conversation with Photographer Akshay Bhoan
Our first interview for Straight from theArt series was with artist & photographer Akshay Bhoan.
Akshay is an artist & photographer shuffling between New york, London & India.
His work is focussed on the intimate study of trauma & memory.
We really wanted to bring to you his current work Relapse- New york to highlight the possibility of creating work that is conceptual. That can be made with simple tools that are available to all of us.
His photographs were taken with a phone camera and the book was built with accessible material that even highlights the concept of the book. We hope these conversations inspires you to create your own work and broaden your perspective about art and photography.
Since we recorded this in the times of the Corona lockdown, we decided to do this live on Instagram Live.
This was a learning for us too and our next interviews will probably be more organized and better produced. Do check our youtube channel to see the recording of the live episode and more of Akshay's work.
