She is the first woman, and first Asian American to lead the city. Angels by definition, serve as a divine messenger, intermediary or protector of humanity, and nothing could be truer than these brave souls. In this this episode of “Life Unscripted,” Alix Kendall sits down with 2 leaders of the “BRAVER ANGELS” movement to learn how they are getting Democrats and Republicans to sit down and talk to one another. MELINDA VOSS is one of the state coordinators for BRAVER ANGELS MINNESOTA. She retired from the Des Moines Register and Tribune after 26 years as a reporter, and has taught journalism at three universities. She leans BLUE. SCOTT SCHLUTER is also a Co-coordinator of BRAVER ANGELS, and has been a member since 2018. He leans RED. The two went on a nine day “Reduce the Rancor” bus tour, along with other volunteers, who organized workshops, and met with local community members across Minnesota mnbraverangels.org. The two met years ago, through a mutual friend when Maria Isa’s career as a performer was taking off. MARIA ISA was first elected in 2022 , and has been representing district 65B covering St. Paul and West St. Paul. She’s championed health care, and as a Type 1 diabetic helped pass a bill for affordable insulin. She’s championed HIV/AIDS healthcare funding, and advanced tenant rights, and her work on the Children and Families Policy and Finance committee gained national attention by the Biden Administration. He has a name you don’t forget, whose unique ability to rally people together for the greater good, did not go unnoticed by “Pivot,” a podcast hosted by veteran tech journalist, Kara Swisher and NYU Professor Scott Galloway. Galloway initiated #resistandunsubscribe, a consumer activism movement aimed at encouraging people to vote with their dollars AGAINST large tech companies contributing to the #iceagents takedown of people in Minnesota, and citizens across the country. The two together spitballed the idea of having a fundraiser in #mpls to help people impacted by #ice raids who need legal assistance. Who ya gonna call? TANE DANGER! Tane Danger is the co-creator of of the nationally renowned “The Theater of Public Policy, which has been described by the Star Tribune newspaper as C-Span invaded by the cast of SNL.
