True Believers: A Comic Book Podcast

Sporting long hair, big portfolios, and bell bottoms, these "hippies," emigrated to the unwelcoming and mean streets of 1970’s New York hoping to work alongside their heroes. They were not welcomed with open arms by the button-down publishers, editors and fellow creators. Undaunted, and living in near poverty, they scraped out a living, overcame reverse age-ism and prejudice, and along the way created some of the most popular and enduring work the comics medium has ever published. Intellectual property that has since earned billions of dollars in film, television and merchandising. It is time to tell the story of “the blue jean generation.” Through interviews with the creators, we will experience the quest of these young dreamers: their rollicking adventures, occasional heartbreak, and ultimate triumphs as they become recognized and acclaimed in their chosen field. The impact they made on the business will be discussed with current pros, as well as established figures in the arenas of entertainment and politics.
